Programme of Governance 2009 - 2013
The German Chancellor, Federal Ministers and Prime Ministers of the German Federal States of the Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU/CSU) are meeting at the bcc to introduce the programme of government for the next period of governance. Angela Merkel (Chancellor), Horst Seehofer (Federal Minister of Bavaria), and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (Federal Minister of Economics Affairs), are addressing numerous guests and journalists from all over the world.
National Conference on Electric Mobility
On invitation from the German Federal Government, about 400 experts and decision makers in the fields of economy, research, and industry discuss national strategies on hybrid and electric vehical power. Appealing design and innovative technology are supposed to establish Germany as market leader.
EU/G8-Conference Energy Efficency
In the context of the German EU and G8 presidency, the Ministries of Economy and Transport stage the international conference, "Energy Efficieny: Creating the World of Tomorrow" at the bcc. Approaches to and experience of efficient energy usage are presented and discussed with the participants of the conference.
20 years of German Ministry of Environment (BMU)
The BMU celebrates its 20th birthday with a commemorative event at the bcc. Keynote speaker is the German chancellor and former Minister of Environment, Angela Merkel. Amongst others, the German Minister of Environment, Sigmar Gabriel, the Austrian Minister of Environment, Josef Pröll, as well as, the former German Foreign Minister, Hans-Dietrich Genscher are discussing the balance and perspectives of environmental policy.
NATO Forum on Business and Security
International representatives from politics, economy, science, and intelligence services meet to discuss how to face the global menaces of international terrorism, organised crime, and ecological disasters. This event is an essential part of the NATO science programme.
SPD Conference
The leaders of the SPD (Social Democartic Party) gather to reform social democracy with their policy statements themed, ´Power of Renewal´. Kurt Beck makes his first speech as the new chairman of the party and opens the discussion. Representatives of several social committees and organisations participate in the debate.
Conference of the CDU
With her presentation, the chairman of the CDU (Christian Democratic Party) Angela Merkel, opens the debate on new policy statements. Following this presentation, about 1,000 participants of the congress themed, ´New Justice through more Liberty,´ are discussing central questions on social development within eight forums.
Council for Sustainable Development
Experts from Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa present their efforts in environmental policy. Klaus Töpfer, director of the UN environmental agenda, demands a change in the global energy policy towards climate protection. The German chancellor, Gerhard Schröder, also pleads for increasing the use of renewable energies.
3rd Congress on European Defence
At least 1,200 international experts gather at the bcc for the third European Defence Conference - amongst them, nine European Ministers of Defence, as well as, top representatives of the European Union and NATO. Angela Merkel speaks about the common European defence policy.
Congress of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research
As a result of the PISA study and the OECD report on education, more than 1,000 participants from all over Germany come together to work on the concept of full-time schools . The congress features a press conference with Federal Minister Ms. Edelgard Bulmahn, as well as, an exhibition in the foyer of the bcc.
Chinese-German Forum on Economy and Culture
The bcc hosts the opening ceremony of the Chinese-German Forum on Economy and Culture. Chinese artists celebrate the cultural traditions of their country. Politicians and investors discuss the extension of economic relations.
European Conference on Co-Determination
The Hans Böckler Foundation of the Federation of German Trade Unions holds a conference on co-determination at the company level. "To meet the boss at eye level" is the slogan that stimulates a lively debate, in which, Franz Müntefering, the leader of the Social Democratic Party takes part, as well as, the faction leader of the Christian Democrats in parliament, Friedrich Merz.
The European Conference for Renewable Energy
The conference organised by the European Commission, with support of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, provides a discussion forum for market prospects, reinforced policies, and new renewable energy targets towards 2020. The debate will conclude with concrete targets and proposals for initiatives aiming at the increasing uptake of renewable energies in an enlarged European Union and beyond.
DGB (Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund)
The Federation of German Trade Unions invites faction leaders from the German parliament to talks on industrial agreements at a national conference.
