World Congress of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery

More than 3,000 leading plastic surgeons coming from 93 countries meet in Germany for the very first time. During the congress at the bcc, a simulcast of a surgery in Berlin’s Martin Luther Hospital can be observed in the Kuppelsaal of the venue.

International Alzheimer Congress

1,500 scientists, clinicians, caregivers, and honorary volunteers from 70 countries gather at the bcc for a congress lasting three days, titled, "Dementia – a Challenge for the 21st Century." The organisor is the Alzheimer's Disease International - a worldwide umbrella organisation of Alzheimer societies.

Closure Event of the Science Year

The Science Year 2006 (Year of Information Technology) officially ends with a festive reception at the bcc. The Federal Minister of Research, Anette Schavan, draws a successful conclusion for all participants. Ben Becker reads from science fiction novels and members of the Semper Opera of Dresden provide a musical highlight.

World Congress of Sleep Medicine

The World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) welcomes about 1,000 scientists from five continents at its First World Congress on Sleep Medicine at the bcc. Central issue of the convention is non-recreative sleep. Amongst others, the famous mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, reports at the plenum on his experiences with sleep 8,000 meters above sea level.

Congress for anaesthesiology and intensive care

“We assume responsibility” was the slogan for 2,500 participants and exhibitors at the 10th HAI. Doctors and scientists discussed future ways and means of intensive care and therapy. 85 exhibitors presented themselves to an expert audience at the industrial exhibition of this international congress.

nanoDE

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research holds the BMBF nanotechnology convention (nanoDE) at the bcc. "Strategies of Tomorrow´s Products" is the title for the sector dialogue between the economy, science, and sponsors of the German "nano-scene."

Homeopathic World Medical Congress

Under the patronage of Mrs Doris Schroeder-Kopf, wife of the German chancellor, 1,200 experts from 25 countries come together to the 60th Homeopathic World Medical Congress. The theme of the congress is "Tradition - Experience - Vision”. Words of greetings come from the Brazilian President Mr. Lula da Silva, German Health Secretary Ms. Ulla Schmidt, and the Governing Mayor of Berlin Mr. Klaus Wowereit.

About 3,000 pulmonary experts discuss the latest trends in science and the practice of medicine, at the bcc. Meanwhile, in an igloo tent on the forecourt, physicians of the Charité offer free pulmonic examinations to the Berliners.
