March 2002 - Start of constructionThe rebuilding of the bcc at Alexanderplatz started on March 1st - on time. The deconstruction of the high-rise building started at the same time and the building is now covered by scaffolding. |

March 2002 - SignboardThe signboard has been standing in front of bcc at Alexanderplatz since the end of March. It is there for all to see - the new bcc is coming. |

April 2002 - 2900 kWh for a good causeThe first promotional poster was hanging on the facade of the office building. The cost of the of the wall frieze restoration, amounting to € 800,000, will be partly covered by these receipts. |

April 2002 - Reproduction of the wall friezeThe covering of the office building is an exact reproduction of the wall frieze. It is 4% bigger than the original "Womacka-frieze" because of the scaffolding. |

May 2002 - Restoration of the wall friezeStudents of the Academy Erfurt have analysed the wall frieze. They will support the restoration under the direction of Professor Peter von Treek from Munich. |

May 2002 - Deconstruction of the Yellow and White HallThe walls between the Yellow and White Hall were taken out. A flexible partition wall system will be installed, making it possible to adjust the space quickly and optimally according to individual requirements. |

June 2002 - Do you call that art?A graffiti fist appeared on several buildings in Berlin overnight. "The Fist of Glory" was a symbol of black power in the US during the sixties and seventies, picturising the famous slogan: Power to the People.. |

June 2002 - More transparency on Level BThe round event hall B 01 ("The centre") will have a flexible partition wall system made of glass. It will be possible to let daylight into the hall if requested, to see the wonderful view of Alexanderplatz. You can have an event area (hall and foyer) of about 1,300 sq metres by opening the partition walls. |

July 2002 - Ground excavationSoil will be excavated from beneath the former fountain (between House of Teachers and Congress Hall) to create an additional room (A08). The size of this room will be 400 sq metres. The fountain will have a glass floor so that daylight will reach Level A. |

August 2002 - The Crane is workingVisible from a distance: a huge crane towers over the office building and reaches every spot in the building site. |

September 2002 - The Jigsaw PuzzleThe wall frieze has been completely dismantled and will be restored in a special studio in Quedlinburg. The picture shows the removal of a layer of grout. |

October 2002 - Virtual sound checkSo that the main hall with its dome will have perfect acoustics, a 2 x 2 m model was created. All the materials and fixtures influencing the acoustics have to become optimised by using the latest sound measurements. |

November 2002 - Daylight-canal for Level AA three metre wide daylight-canal is being created at Jacoby Street, which can be entered from Level A (rooms A 03 - A 06). |

December 2002 - Little BlinkenlightsThe lights have been shining at Alexanderplatz since December 22 again - this time on the construction signboard of the bcc. It will be functional just like the big Blinkenlights - cellphone-interaction, web-interface... The installation can be seen until the end of the restoration. Afterwards Little Blinkenlights will get a special place on bcc´s level B. |

January 2003 - New Parking DeckAn additional parking space is going to be created behind the House of Teachers. A delivery by trucks will be possible. |

February 2003 - Projection in the Main HallProjections for the main hall with its dome (C 01) are tested by using the acoustic model. Video signals and computer pictures shall be projected via fixed installations as well as via mobile technical equipment. |

March 2003 - Restoration of the dome"s roofThe progress of the construction is now visible at the outside of the facade. In the picture the first segments of the dome"s roof are provided with a new aluminium-skin. |

April 2003 - Building structure´s top viewAlmost half of the dome´s roof is already restaurated. The outstanding brightness is visible from high above even though in bad weather. Also the restauration in the bcc´s inside is in time. |

May 2003 - A03-A06Among other things 4 additional workshop rooms with an area of 100 sqm each were created on Level A. The windows are installed, the floor pavement has been layed, at the moment the air-conditioner has been installing. |

June 2003 - bcc celebrates the topping-out ceremonyThe former congress hall is celebrating the second topping-out ceremony on June 12 after 40 years. 400 guests look forward to the new bcc. A traverse decorated with sunflowers is hovering above the shining aluminium-dome. |

July 2003 - A new logoThe new bcc-logo has been shining brightly over the attic of the building since July 16th. Aluminium has been used - the same material which has been used for the dome"s roof and a lot of details inside the house. |

August 2003 - Countdown is tickingJust one month to go until the new bcc opens. By and by, the covers are being dropped. Inside the building there is ardous activity to add the finishing touches to the bcc. (Picture: Frontside facing the Jacobystraße - here will be the offices for the bcc team) |

September 2003 - The bcc reopensAn international medical congress brings around 3,000 oculists from 44 different countries to the bcc in its first fortnight of operations. |
